Microsoft 365 powered by Work IQ: Built to Support How You Work
Give AI the context to get more done. The more AI understands about your work, the less time your team spends explaining what needs to get done. Watch this short video to see how Copilot Cowork works in context, drawing on relevant information to understand your work and take on tasks with less hand-holding.
What is Work IQ in Microsoft 365?
Work IQ is an intelligence layer built into Microsoft 365 that helps Copilot and other agents better understand you, your work, and your company. It brings together three core elements:
- Data – information from across your Microsoft 365 environment
- Memory – context about your ongoing work, preferences, and patterns
- Inference – the ability to draw conclusions and provide relevant suggestions or actions
By combining these, Work IQ helps reimagine how you interact with Microsoft 365, so Copilot and agents can respond in a way that feels more tailored to your day-to-day work.
How does Work IQ support the way I work?
Work IQ is designed to support how you already work in Microsoft 365, rather than forcing you to change your habits. It does this by:
- Understanding your context – what you’re working on, who you’re collaborating with, and what information matters most right now.
- Connecting information – bringing together data from across your Microsoft 365 apps so Copilot and agents can surface what’s relevant without you having to search manually.
- Improving responses over time – using memory and inference so that suggestions, summaries, and actions become more aligned with your role and your company’s way of working.
The result is a more focused, context-aware experience that helps you move faster on everyday tasks.
What makes Work IQ different from traditional AI in productivity tools?
Traditional AI features in productivity tools often focus on single tasks, like spelling, grammar, or basic recommendations. Work IQ goes further by acting as an integrated intelligence layer across Microsoft 365.
Key differences include:
- Company-aware – Work IQ is built to understand your company context, not just generic content.
- Work-aware – it uses memory and inference to stay aligned with your ongoing projects and responsibilities.
- Copilot-ready – it specifically powers Microsoft 365 Copilot and agents, enabling them to deliver more relevant, context-rich assistance.
This helps reshape how AI shows up in your daily tools—from isolated features to a more connected, intelligent experience across your work.
